I don't think this is a very good name. It may be funny, but who'd want to go to the park with their dog and it runs off and then have to shout 'Fat Boy' in front of all the people in the park?

I have a chocolate lab named Chuckie Cheese, but he's also quite large, and generally a couch potato, so his name has evolved over the years.
Now he answers to Chuckie, Chuck, cheeboy, chunky, and yes, fatboy, which seems to be his favorite. It's not said in a derogatory tone, but rather in a loving, upbeat tone, and he likes the sound of his name when he's called fatboy. He smiles when he hears fatboy!

Sadly, I know people who affectionately call their CHILDREN "fat boy"... Not at all suprised to see this as a pet name

I do not think the name is appropriate for children, but in the right spirit it works for animals. Those who 'don't' like it all seem to be 'anonymous'. All I care about is that 'my' dog likes it.:)
